How to play
Six daily games, one idea: a few minutes of focus, then get on with your day.
The daily rhythm
- Each game has exactly one new puzzle per day. Everyone playing in your language gets the same one.
- Puzzles change at midnight in your time zone. A countdown on every game page shows when.
- Your streak counts consecutive days on which you solved that day's puzzle. Archive puzzles never break or extend it.
- Results are stored in your browser. No account is required.
WORD — Guess the hidden word.
- Type any valid five-letter word and press Enter.
- A green tile means the letter is in the right spot. An amber tile means the letter is in the word but in another spot. A grey tile means the letter is not in the word.
- You have six tries. Use the on-screen keyboard or your own.
- Stuck? Open the hints — they get more specific one at a time.
GROUP — Find four groups of four.
- Sixteen words hide four groups of four. Every word belongs to exactly one group.
- Tap four words and submit. If they form a group, it locks in with its title.
- You may make four mistakes. 'One away' means three of your four were right.
- Groups have levels from easiest to hardest — the hardest usually hides a twist.
MAP — Guess the location.
- Read the clue, then tap the world map where you think the place is.
- Confirm your pin to see how far off you were and in which direction.
- You get three guesses. After each one a new hint appears.
- Points depend on your closest guess: within 25 km is a perfect score.
HIVE — Build words from today's letters.
- Seven letters are shown in a honeycomb. The one in the centre must appear in every word.
- Type a word of four letters or more and press Enter. Letters can be used more than once.
- Four-letter words score 1 point; longer words score one point per letter. A pangram uses all seven letters and earns 7 extra points.
- Your rank rises with your score. Reach "Great" to count the day as solved — or find every word for a perfect score.
CROSS — A tiny crossword for your coffee break.
- A small crossword: five by five, a handful of clues, black squares like the real thing.
- Tap a square and type a letter. Tap the same square again to switch between across and down.
- Use "Check" to mark wrong letters, or reveal a single letter if you are stuck.
- The timer stops when every letter is right. Beat your own average time.
SUM — Reach the targets with five numbers.
- You get five numbers and three targets, from easy to hard.
- Pick a number, an operation and a second number. The result replaces the two numbers you used.
- Only whole, non-negative results are allowed. Undo any step or start the target over.
- Reach all three targets exactly to solve the day. Skipping a target still finishes the puzzle.
